In 2022 Rumo scheduled completion of the ESGenius application for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) use. The ESGenius module was expected to be completed by March 2022 to identify cargo capture information and cross reference it with data from the Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources IBAMA.
The implementation scope centers on two complementary capabilities within ESGenius. The first is a cargo capture information module that enables registration of the lot with the characteristics of the collection point, combining structured capture, validation of collection point attributes, and lot-level record creation. The second capability is a Rail Operations front planned for 2022, intended to record collection point characteristics at the start of rail moves and to align those records with the cargo capture dataset.
Integrations are explicit and limited to the IBAMA dataset for environmental attribute matching, and a development partnership with the startup Btracer for the Rail Operations front. Operational coverage targets collection point intake workflows and rail operations data capture, positioning ESGenius to serve operations teams and environmental compliance functions involved in cargo origination and transit.
Governance and process changes focus on enforcing registration at the point of collection and introducing a cross reference step against IBAMA as part of operational intake. Rollout timeline notes completion of the initial ESGenius module by March 2022 and full development of the Rail Operations capability with Btracer by the end of 2022, implying staged deployment and tightened compliance checkpoints within existing operational workflows.
