In 2016, Sally Beauty UK engaged HSO to roll out Microsoft Dynamics AX as its ERP Financial solution, replacing an existing IBM AS/400 environment for the Sally Salon Services retail and distribution business. HSO was selected based on a combination of Dynamics AX technical expertise and retail domain experience, reflecting a formal vendor and SI partnership driving the initiative.
The implementation targeted finance and operations as the initial enterprise scope, with an explicit objective to future-proof core business processing and support expansion. Business drivers included modernization of finance processes, standardization of product master and pricing, and improved order to cash capabilities within a single Microsoft Dynamics AX platform.
Deployment followed a three phase rollout. Phase one transitioned the finance function onto Microsoft Dynamics AX, aligning general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows. Phase two implemented product set up, pricing management, account processing and invoicing, and phase three scheduled for completion in 2018 addressed inventory and stock management, sales order processes and customer contact and management.
HSO staffed the programme with a blended team of Dynamics AX consultants and retail specialists to align configuration with merchandising and distribution practices, and to govern business process change. The implementation was positioned to integrate Microsoft Dynamics AX into Sally Salon Services operational workflows rather than as a point solution, emphasizing master data control, pricing engines and order management orchestration across finance, merchandising and store operations within the United Kingdom.
Governance was organized around phased cutovers and close client partner collaboration, enabling standardized ways of working and process streamlining across the organisation. Reported outcomes include more consistent operational workflows, efficiency gains in finance and order processing, and a robust, future proofed Microsoft Dynamics AX platform supported by ongoing HSO consultancy and support.

In 2014, Sally Beauty UK implemented Workbooks CRM, a cloud-based CRM to manage its growing field sales teams supporting commercial salons and training colleges. The deployment was driven by the need to centralize sales activity for a wholesale retail business that distributes more than 4,000 hair and beauty products.
Workbooks CRM was configured to deliver core CRM functionality including email management, contact and meeting tracking, and quote creation, accessed through a web-based user interface to promote rapid user adoption. Configuration choices emphasized an intuitive UI and self-service customization so internal administrators could adapt workflows with minimal external training or ongoing IT overhead.
The implementation included synchronization with the Outlook client to ensure emails and calendar items remain aligned with CRM records, supporting remote and field-based sales workflows. Initial operational scope covered two remote sales teams, with plans to consider adding the Sales Support Team to extend internal workflow automation and improve customer service processes.
Sally Beauty UK migrated from Sage CRM after evaluating multiple vendors, and retained responsibility for customisation and system maintenance to keep administrative costs low. Company leadership stated confidence that Workbooks CRM will improve sales team effectiveness and provide the management reporting required to manage and achieve sales targets.
