In 2019, Sauter Controls centralized hybrid IT operations by deploying Novell ZENworks together with OpenText Open Enterprise Server. The implementation targeted Hardware Asset Management (HAM),IT Asset Management (ITAM) to bring endpoint and workstation lifecycle control under a single management plane.
Novell ZENworks was configured for Configuration and Patch Management, and the project inference includes use of ZENworks for hardware inventory consistent with Hardware Asset Management (HAM),IT Asset Management (ITAM) practice. The deployment leveraged ZENworks Configuration and Patch Management capabilities to automate configuration baselines, orchestrate patching, and collect inventory and asset metadata for endpoint lifecycle tasks.
The solution stack ran on OpenText Open Enterprise Server and was managed centrally from Freiburg, enabling administration of roughly 2,400 users and workstations across Germany and Switzerland. Operational coverage emphasized IT operations and desktop support functions, consolidating distributed endpoints and hybrid on-prem resources into a unified endpoint management topology.
Rollout prioritized consolidation and process automation to reduce administration overhead, and the program achieved roughly 50% cost savings across the Germany/Switzerland scope as stated by the vendor case. Governance changes focused on centralized endpoint lifecycle workflows, scheduled patching and configuration baselines, and automated inventory reconciliation to support ongoing Hardware Asset Management (HAM),IT Asset Management (ITAM).
