In 2014, Scoop New Zealand ran the NZ Election Reactor using Roy Morgan Reactor to crowdsource second by second voter reactions to political videos and debates. The deployment used Roy Morgan Reactor as a real-time Analytics and BI instrument to capture and display audience sentiment within Scoop New Zealand editorial coverage. Scoop New Zealand Roy Morgan Reactor Analytics and BI integration produced public-facing segmented reaction graphs accessible on the Scoop website and via the mobile Reactor app, linking live reaction capture directly to media and political research workflows.
The implementation combined a live reaction capture module, an aggregation and visualization engine that produced time-aligned segmented reaction graphs, and explicit integration with Roy Morgan panel data for demographic and attitudinal segmentation. Delivery architecture focused on online embeds and mobile app feeds to support event-driven publishing during debates and video coverage, affecting editorial audience engagement and political research functions. Governance and rollout were organized around election events with controls for publishing crowd-sourced responses alongside panel-derived segments, enabling editorial teams to present synchronized reaction visualizations in real time.
