The program targeted Customer Engagement use cases, moving from an on premise SQL Server HA Aaareon QL version 14 into Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement and Power Platform Dataverse environments provisioned for development, test and production. A Solutions Architect acted as technical delivery lead, directing a small business analysis team and working with the development manager, Programme Director and Board to document design, licensing and technical considerations.
The implementation centered on housing case management processes and tenancy rent financials, configuring Dataverse entities, CRM workflows and Power Apps using premium connectors to automate forms and transactional flows. Power BI report ownership and analytics were addressed by loading structured SQL archive data into an Azure data lake and a data warehouse to feed reporting and self service dashboards. Environment separation and Power Platform environment strategies were defined to isolate development, testing and production workloads.
Architecturally the solution was defined around Azure microservices and event driven vendor APIs, including a catalog and ordering process API that integrated three new suppliers for plumbing, electrical and build materials with the housing ERP accounting platform. Integration flow security roles and EntraID role configurations were designed to secure connectors and API access. Microsoft Purview based governance was proposed to catalogue data sources, define RBAC collections, stewardship and owners to support a customer service audit and maintain data lineage.
Governance and operational readiness activities included producing a technical roadmap and security policy proposals, collaborating with a consultancy on data strategy, and supporting the Infrastructure team on BAU tickets and change control for vendor onboarding. The Solutions Architect prepared internal test plans for the BA team, presented project cost forecasts to the Executive and Board, and identified resource risk as part of programme reporting. The implementation emphasized environment isolation, secured integration patterns and documented data stewardship for customer service and tenancy financial workflows.
