In 2022, SENSIT Technologies implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as its ERP Financial application. The deployment centered on converting operational master data and inventory controls to a unified Business Central instance for the manufacturing site in Valparaiso, IN. The implementation activity was executed during a Business Management internship between June 2022 and August 2022, and it focused on practical data ingestion and inventory automation tasks rather than on a phased enterprise rollout.
Configuration work emphasized inventory part attributes and item master enrichment inside Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, with inventory identifiers and attribute sets assigned to each part record. Customer and vendor master data were gathered and prepared for loading into the ERP Financial system to establish procure-to-pay and order-to-cash foundations. Inventory parts were also programmed with location data and barcode identifiers to align Business Central item records with physical storage logic.
The project included an operational integration with a SILO VLM storage system, where inventory parts were loaded and part locations and barcoding bins were programmed to support automated retrieval workflows. Operational coverage included inventory personnel and storage operations at the Valparaiso site, and the work supported core business functions such as inventory management, receiving, and vendor/customer master data management. SENSIT inventory staff received hands-on training on the operation and programming of the inventory storage system to embed new procedural controls.
Governance and rollout were managed at a tactical project level, with the intern managing two individuals to successfully complete three discrete projects related to the Business Central conversion and SILO VLM programming. Training and knowledge transfer to Sensit inventory personnel were explicit deliverables, ensuring the site-level team could operate the storage system and maintain item master data within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
