In 2018 SETAM implemented Bitfury Exonum as its Blockchain Platform to introduce a permissioned distributed ledger into its retail operations in Ukraine, aimed at securing transactional records and improving product provenance and auditability. The Bitfury Exonum Blockchain Platform deployment established a cryptographically anchored ledger and consensus layer to record immutable transactions for operational workflows across supply chain and sales functions.
The implementation leveraged core category-aligned capabilities, including consensus services, cryptographic transaction signing, smart contract interfaces, and API layers for transaction submission and verification. Configuration work focused on node orchestration and permissioned access controls to support role-based transaction validation and audit trail generation within SETAMs operational footprint.
Bitfury reported collaborative delivery with Altran and DSCI, which supported integration activities and system hardening during rollout. Valery Vavilov, CEO of Bitfury, stated that working with Altran and DSCI enabled improvement of the system, provided unparalleled efficiency and increased security, observations that framed the programs governance and operational objectives.
Governance was organized around permissioned node administration, transaction approval workflows, and audit processes to align blockchain operations with retail business controls and compliance needs. The overall implementation narrative centers on SETAM, Bitfury Exonum, Blockchain Platform and the intersection of ledger infrastructure with retail business functions.
