BYD Technographics
Discover the latest software purchases and digital transformation initiatives being undertaken by BYD and its business and technology executives. Each quarter our research team identifies on-prem and cloud applications that are being used by the 968900 BYD employees from the public (Press Releases, Customer References, Testimonials, Case Studies and Success Stories) and proprietary sources.
During our research, we have identified that BYD has purchased the following applications: VeChainThor for Blockchain Platform in 2018, vTradEx OMS for Order Management in 2024, Huawei Cloud for Application Hosting and Computing Services in 2000 and the related IT decision-makers and key stakeholders.
Our database provides customer insight and contextual information on which enterprise applications and software systems BYD is running and its propensity to invest more and deepen its relationship with Vechain Foundation , vTradEx , Huawei Enterprise or identify new suppliers as part of their overall Digital and IT transformation projects to stay competitive, fend off threats from disruptive forces, or comply with internal mandates to improve overall enterprise efficiency.
We have been analyzing BYD revenues, which have grown to $108.25 billion in 2024, plus its IT budget and roadmap, cloud software purchases, aggregating massive amounts of data points that form the basis of our forecast assumptions for BYD intention to invest in emerging technologies such as AI, Machine Learning, IoT, Blockchain, Autonomous Database or in cloud-based ERP, HCM, CRM, EPM, Procurement or Treasury applications.

In 2018, BYD implemented VeChainThor as the foundation for a carbon banking system, deploying VeChainThor as a Blockchain Platform to tokenize and record carbon assets tied to its electric vehicle and battery manufacturing operations. The solution uses a business orientated public blockchain architected and maintained by Vechain Foundation, and it captures on chain records for issuance, transfer, and immutable audit trails that support BYD sustainability and emissions accounting functions.
Implementation centered on smart contract driven asset issuance, on chain tokenization of carbon credits, and cryptographic provenance for traceability, with configuration targeted at carbon banking workflows and corporate sustainability reporting. Governance emphasized smart contract controls, deterministic on chain auditability, and role based access to issuance and transfer functions, aligning operational ownership with BYD sustainability and manufacturing reporting teams.

| vTradEx | Legacy | vTradEx OMS | Order Management | SCM | n/a | 2024 | 2025 |
In 2024 BYD engaged vTradEx to provision vTradEx OMS in an Order Management implementation as part of a broader smart logistics modernization program across its manufacturing and distribution network in China. The engagement was tied to a TMS optimization kickoff reported in October 2024 and targeted the intersection of logistics and order management processes to improve execution and financial settlement workflows.
vTradEx OMS was used to orchestrate order lifecycles and shipment execution workflows, with configuration focused on reconciliation and transportation fee settlement capabilities. The implementation emphasized order orchestration, shipment tracking handoffs, and automated reconciliation processes common to Order Management solutions, aligning system behavior to logistics settlement requirements described in the program brief.
Architecturally the program created an interconnected logistics platform with multi-system connectivity, integrating vTradEx OMS with BYDs TMS and adjacent logistics and settlement systems to streamline data flows between manufacturing sites, distribution points, and transportation settlement engines. The design centralizes order state and settlement events to reduce manual reconciliation across disparate systems while enabling synchronous and asynchronous message exchange common to large-scale logistics ecosystems.
Governance and rollout were staged to cover BYDs manufacturing and distribution footprint in China, with the October 2024 TMS optimization activity serving as a coordination point for cross-system cutovers and testing. Reported outcomes from the program included improved transportation fee settlement and stronger multi-system connectivity, and the deployment focused on operationalizing shipment execution and reconciliation processes within the Order Management scope.
