In 2021, Shopify Canada deployed Gainsight Customer Education (formerly Northpass LMS) to build a white labeled customer academy, using the platform as its Learning and Development application to scale product and business education for merchants globally. The implementation emphasized a branded learner portal and centralized course delivery to accelerate merchant onboarding and ongoing product adoption.
Gainsight Customer Education was configured with standard LMS capabilities including course authoring, learner management, enrollment workflows, assessments, and reporting, and was organized to support segmented content by merchant persona and product line. The environment was provisioned to host and manage more than 230 courses, with content versioning and completion tracking instruments applied to govern curriculum lifecycle.
Operational ownership rested with customer education and customer success functions, and the academy served merchants globally as the primary merchant learning channel. According to the vendor case study the deployment supported 750k plus learners and scaled to cover broad product and business education needs across Shopify Canada’s merchant base.
Governance included centralized content ownership, role based access for course maintainers, and automated completion tracking tied to learner records. Per the vendor case study the rollout coincided with a 491 percent increase in monthly academy usage, demonstrating rapid uptake of the Gainsight Customer Education platform within Shopify Canada’s Learning and Development and customer success operations.
