In 2018 Skagit Horticulture implemented Sage Business Cloud X3 (ex Sage ERP X3) to provide core ERP Financial capabilities across the organization. The deployment connected Sage Business Cloud X3 to an on premises SQL Server backend hosted at Skagit Horticulture and leveraged the Sage X3 ERP Databases for inventory and product catalog data.
Development centered on a custom product availability and capacity planning solution that merged forecasted availability from multiple Excel sources with live ERP inventory data. The product availability tool produced grower capacity planning reports and structured XML exports, using Windows Presentation Foundation for configuration and report triggering, C# and .NET classes for business logic and transport, and SQL Server stored procedures, indexing, programmatic pivoting and SqlBulkCopy for high volume data transformation and staging.
Integrations included direct read and write access to the ERP's SQL Server backend and the SBI and Sage X3 ERP Databases, automated delivery over SFTP and FTP, and background tasks that refreshed broker and internal availability feeds throughout the day. Operational coverage focused on the sales and planning teams internally and on broker-facing distribution channels that consumed custom XML availability feeds.
Rollout and support activity spanned January 2018 to April 2022 with on call maintenance between May 2020 and April 22nd 2022, and development deliberately avoided VBA and macros by centralizing logic in C#, Interop and T SQL. The integrated Sage Business Cloud X3 implementation and bespoke .NET tooling removed several hours per week of manual data scraping for sales and planning teams and improved data accuracy through automated programmatic merging and exports.
