In 2015 Southern Spars engaged to manage the remaining phases of Epicor ERP 10 implementation, concentrating on the Functional/Proof of Concept test phase, the Data Migration Plan, and the Technical and Business Cutover Plan to achieve GoLive for Epicor ERP 10. The work was scoped for Southern Spars as a 600 employee New Zealand manufacturing company and centered on ERP Financial functionality and related operational finance flows.
The engagement delivered development and management of functional and proof of concept test cases across core financial modules, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and cash management, with configuration of chart of accounts and period close processes. Test governance emphasized structured test scripts, data-driven validation scenarios, and reconciliation checkpoints to exercise financial posting, period end, and reporting behavior in Epicor ERP 10.
Management of the Data Migration Plan encompassed data extraction mapping, staging and cleansing, reconciliation rules, and cutover data freeze and validation procedures to support financial master and transactional migration. The Technical and Business Cutover Plan was created and executed with sequenced activities for batch processing, interface and report sequencing where applicable, user access provisioning, rollback contingencies, and go no go decision gates to coordinate IT and finance teams during GoLive.
Operational coverage focused on finance and adjacent operational functions including procurement and inventory finance touch points, with governance implemented through business sign off, testing exit criteria, cutover runbooks, and an explicit handover to business operations. Epicor ERP 10 was positioned to centralize ERP Financial controls and operationalize the technical and business processes required for the cutover and stabilization phases.
