In 2019, Spikeball implemented the BILL Financial Operations Platform to automate core payables and receivables workflows. The deployment focused on AP Automation,AR Automation capabilities to support a small finance team facing rapidly increasing invoice volumes.
The implementation configured automated invoice capture and data entry to reduce manual processing, and established a configurable approvals flow that routes first to the department approver and then automatically to the COO for final sign off, preserving a detailed audit trail. International payments functionality was enabled to pay overseas vendors in local currencies or US dollars, replacing a manual bank wire process with a one click payment initiation.
Operational coverage centered on Finance, where the finance manager was the sole accounting resource and the COO participated in final approvals. Spikeball processed 2,200 bills in the prior year and expected about double that volume in 2019, a scale the BILL Financial Operations Platform supported without adding AP headcount.
Governance changes formalized the two stage approval workflow and audit reporting for payment inquiries, standardizing payables controls and consolidating payment rails through the BILL Financial Operations Platform.

In 2017, Spikeball implemented Brightpearl ERP to centralize multichannel order, inventory and reporting workflows. Spikeball deployed Brightpearl ERP as its Retail Management platform to unify direct-to-consumer sales from its Shopify store, Amazon channel, and a new wholesale portal, establishing a single operational view for ecommerce, retail accounts, and fulfillment.
The Brightpearl ERP rollout focused on core Retail Management capabilities, including centralized order management, automated order routing to warehouse operations, inventory control and real-time reporting for demand planning and forecasting. Spikeball configured automation rules to reduce manual intervention, streamlining channel-specific fulfillment requirements while preserving a lean operations team.
Integrations implemented included native channel connections into Shopify and Amazon plus automated order ingestion from the wholesale portal, with orders routed directly into warehouse workflows. Operational coverage extended across ecommerce, wholesale sales, fulfillment and global demand planning, allowing daily visibility into sales by channel and by customer from one system.
Governance and process changes emphasized consolidated reporting and automation to support multichannel decision making, inventory allocation and UX optimization for the consumer site. Spikeball used Brightpearl ERP reporting to identify channel performance shifts and to scale wholesale alongside DTC, and the organization credited automation with enabling the same team to service expanded channels with reduced manual touch.
