In 2022 Square Enix Japan joined Oasys as one of 21 initial node validators on the Oasys Blockchain Platform, a Blockchain Platform built as an environmentally friendly, gaming optimized Proof of Stake blockchain. Square Enix announced the move as part of a strategic push by its Blockchain Entertainment Business division, launched in April 2022, to explore decentralized games and tokenized economies.
The implementation signal centers on validator node operations within the Oasys Blockchain Platform, participation in Proof of Stake consensus, and exploratory work on tokenized economy models and user contribution mechanisms for game development. The engagement supports category aligned capabilities such as validator management, token issuance workflows and on chain asset handling that enable prototyping of decentralized game mechanics and community driven development processes.
Square Enix’s validator role is enacted alongside other initial validators including Bandai Namco Research, SEGA, Ubisoft, Netmarble, Wemade, Com2uS and Yield Guild Games, creating a publisher focused consortium for collaborative testing and interoperability efforts. Operational coverage is scoped to the Blockchain Entertainment Business division and targets game development teams and community engagement functions rather than traditional back office systems.
Governance and process implications are exploratory and strategic, Square Enix has stated the objective is to gain insights that can advance new play experiences and to assess feasibility of harnessing user contributions in development. Participation in the validator set positions Square Enix to take an active governance and technical coordination role within the Oasys network as it shapes protocol decisions and gaming specific ecosystem rules.

In 2021, Square Enix Japan implemented WOVN.io as a Web Content Management solution for its internal employee portal. The deployment targeted intranet based internal communications and HR use cases, with the specific objective of multilingualizing portal content so all staff including non-Japanese employees receive the same information in Japanese and English.
The implementation configured WOVN.io to provide real time bilingual updates and synchronized publishing workflows across Japanese and English pages, enabling content editors to maintain parity with minimal developer effort. Functionality focused on bilingual content publishing, content synchronization across language variants, and editor based workflows typical of Web Content Management platforms, while retaining the portal as the central content repository.
Rollout was executed alongside a portal renewal and covered internal communications and HR distributions across Square Enix Japan, with governance adjusted to support bilingual publishing by communications and HR teams. The company reports near daily usage by 100 percent of employees since the portal renewal and WOVN.io deployment, and the implementation emphasized operational simplicity for ongoing updates rather than heavy development overhead.
