In 2020 Start Canada implemented the Paystone Platform to centralize and modernize online payment processing for its communications business. The Paystone Platform deployment aligned to the Customer Engagement category and focused on Paystone's Converge online payment gateway to support recurring billing and broaden payment acceptance.
Configuration work included enabling recurring billing capabilities, debit acceptance for Mastercard and Visa, and mobile wallet support to accommodate card based and tokenized payments. Converge was integrated with customer account workflows to support automated charge flows and improved self serve payment actions within the customer portal.
The payments and finance implementation in Ontario, Canada covered billing and collections operations for roughly 70,000 customer accounts and simplified billing workflows for the accounting team. The project produced processing cost savings and improved self serve portal functionality as part of the operational outcome.
Governance emphasized billing workflow simplification and portal integrated payment controls, with operational ownership retained by the finance and accounting group to sustain recurring billing and payment acceptance processes. The implementation positioned Start Canada to manage subscription billing and diverse payment methods through the Paystone Platform within core customer engagement and finance functions.
