In 2017, Suez North America implemented Oracle PeopleSoft ERP to extend program and project controls across its utility businesses within the ERP Financial category. The initiative centered on introducing PeopleSoft Program Management alongside existing PeopleSoft Financials modules to standardize project initiation, planning, approvals and project closing processes within finance operations.
The deployment added the PeopleSoft Program Management application to manage Projects, Approvals, email notification flows, project initiation, planning and closing, while maintaining existing projects across their life cycle. EPBCS, Enterprise Planning Budgeting Cloud Service, was implemented to collaborate with the PeopleSoft Program Module for budgeting, planning and formal approval workflows for utility projects. Security and role design were defined by user designation, security was relaxed during Unit and SIT testing to expedite integration verification, and full security controls were enforced during UAT.
Integrations were built to connect PeopleSoft Program Management with accounts and financial reporting environments, with interfaces to the G/L in PeopleSoft Financials, Workday Finance and third party vendor systems as part of consolidated financial orchestration. The team performed unit tests on developed integrations and executed three rounds of system testing focused on connectivity, file formatting and business case execution. Several integration and functional reports were developed to extract mass data from Workday and to support accounts and financial reporting as part of post rollout production support.
Operational coverage included procurement, accounts management, asset tracking and position management workflows, with reporting designed for employee and contractor data. Governance emphasis was on role based security, consolidation of developer and business test cases, and structured sign off processes for design, development and user acceptance testing. The implementation supported ongoing production support and reporting operations for Suez North America’s utility project and financial management workflows.
