In 2019, Surfachem implemented IRIS CascadeHR as its Core HR system. The rollout targeted the Surfachem Group HR function for a UK headquartered distributor with 115 employees and extended operational coverage to support managers in France, Germany, Poland, Brazil and China, aligning HR processes with the wider 2M Group of Companies.
IRIS CascadeHR was configured to centralize employee records, starter and leaver workflows, absence and sickness tracking, and performance appraisal processes, and to support recruitment workflows and case management for disciplinary, grievance and redundancy procedures. Configuration also included management of HR personnel files and coordination of work placement, intern and apprenticeship processes tied to the Group's 2M Academy and STEM programme.
Operational use is centered on the HR team and senior management, with HR managers using IRIS CascadeHR to prepare and maintain HR policy, generate regular reports, monitor statutory leave such as maternity and paternity, and advise line managers on employment law matters across sites. The deployment emphasized standardization of end to end workflows for hiring, onboarding, performance monitoring and employee relations across Surfachem sites.
Governance responsibilities were assigned to the Head of Human Resources who maintains HR policies and ensures IRIS CascadeHR runs smoothly, including starter and leaver procedures and the monitoring of appraisal and absence records for reporting to senior management. The implementation consolidated Core HR activities into IRIS CascadeHR and embedded procedural controls for employee recordkeeping, case management and cross‑site HR coordination.

In 2016 Surfachem implemented Sage Enterprise Intelligence. Sage Enterprise Intelligence was deployed as the group's primary Analytics and BI layer for finance, distribution, order processing and stock management across the business.
The implementation combined reporting and data modeling work with an emphasis on SQL based extraction and transformation. The project used SQL, SSIS and SSRS techniques to create tables, views, triggers, stored procedures and scheduled agents, supporting data feeds, operational reports and dashboards within Sage Enterprise Intelligence.
Sage Enterprise Intelligence integrated with the group SAGE 1000 ERP modules for Order Processing, Stock Management, Distribution and Financials, and with SAGE CRM and an e-commerce front end implemented for two group companies. The deployment covered multi country operations including the United Kingdom, Poland, Norway, Brazil, Germany and China, and supported business functions such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash book, general ledger and distribution workflows.
Governance and rollout followed structured process mapping, user requirements gathering, user workshops, training, system testing, data extraction and conversion ready for load, go-live and ongoing user support. The IT team managed server and desktop dependencies including Windows Server environments, Hyper V, Active Directory and Office 365, while reporting and SSRS delivery were used to ensure timely, accurate reporting and KPI measurement across the group.
