In 2013 Suttons Group implemented Sage Business Cloud X3 (ex Sage ERP X3) as an ERP Financial solution, engaging Datel to deliver the program. The deployment targeted the companys four divisions, Suttons Tankers, Suttons International, Suttons Drumming and Suttons Distribution, and was scoped to support both domestic and international operations across Europe, North America and the Far East.
The Sage Business Cloud X3 implementation provided a single integrated solution to cover purchasing, workflow, electronic document management, alerting and core financial processes, consolidating functionality that had previously been provided by separate point tools. Functional focuses included enhanced management reporting and automation of group consolidation activities, configured to support finance and operational control across the transport and logistics business.
Operationally the implementation unified transactional and financial data flows across sites and divisions to improve visibility and management control, enabling centralized reporting and standardised process execution consistent with ERP Financial design patterns. The project consolidated purchasing and document workflows into the ERP Financial environment, reducing the need for disparate systems while maintaining supply chain and logistics operational coverage.
Selection followed significant testing and trials in 2012, and Datel led the implementation, testing and rollout across the group. Post implementation outcomes noted by the company included improved management reporting, automated group consolidation activities and greater management control and visibility.
