Development focused on building KYC functional modules on the R3 Corda Blockchain Platform, including secure data capture, validation workflows and privacy controls implemented as ledger-enforced business logic. The project used the Blockchain Platform to enforce privacy and shared-state workflows across participants. The prototype incorporated smart contract style identity attestations and workflow orchestration consistent with distributed ledger patterns, leveraging Corda's emphasis on strict privacy in an open global network. The project began with a three-month sprint in July to identify objectives, capture business requirements, define a roadmap and deliver a working functional prototype on Corda. Synechron worked directly with R3 and the participating bank members to develop the prototype, with plans to demo the solution in Synechron's financial innovation labs at project close. Operational scope centered on corporate banking KYC processes across the consortium banks. Governance was consortium-oriented, using the multi-bank LEIA 2 group to set shared requirements and a coordinated roadmap, while R3 provided platform stewardship through its broader industry network of over 80 financial institutions and technology partners. The stated purpose of the R3 Corda Blockchain Platform deployment was to improve data collection, validation, privacy and customer experience for KYC, with the immediate deliverable being a functional prototype and lab demonstration.
