In 2024 Systemiq deployed Thomson Reuters CoCounsel, a Generative AI Platforms application, to augment its legal drafting and contract review workflows. The rollout centered on Thomson Reuters CoCounsel Drafting embedded directly into Microsoft Word, enabling end to end drafting without leaving the authoring environment and minimizing user training overhead.
The implementation used CoCounsel Drafting capabilities to establish a structured drafting stack, including identification of best starting points from internal contract repositories, use of Contract Express templates and Practical Law content, clause search across curated clause libraries and SEC exhibits, natural language driven clause drafting and modification, and automated deviation analysis and redlining against Practical Law contract playbooks. These functional modules were configured to support clause refinement, error correction and iterative review within the Word document lifecycle.
Integrations implemented were explicit and content centric, linking Thomson Reuters CoCounsel to Practical Law, Contract Express templates and the firms contract repository to surface organization specific language and Practical Law standards. Operational coverage targeted Systemiqs legal function, with Systemiq legal counsel using the solution for drafting, clause discovery and rapid review processes in the United Kingdom.
Governance and workflow restructuring prioritized playbook driven review and automated deviation analysis to standardize clause acceptance paths and reduce manual redline overhead. Systemiq reported an explicit reduction in average turnaround from three to four business days down to one to two business days when using the tool, and external beta feedback cited attorneys saving one to two hours per project, highlighting reduced cycle time and faster internal review loops while keeping work inside Thomson Reuters CoCounsel and Microsoft Word.
