In 2023 Taihang Steel deployed Bentley AutoPlant for its central water treatment project at Hebei, using the 3D Modeling application to create a comprehensive digital plant model. The implementation was executed through engineering contractor MCC Capital Engineering and focused on retrofit design for wastewater recycling and reuse across the site.
Bentley AutoPlant was configured to capture detailed plant geometry and routing for process piping and equipment, supporting 3D plant modeling, spatial coordination, and design documentation workflows typical of 3D Modeling applications. The workstream emphasized model-driven retrofit design, enabling engineering teams to produce construction deliverables and coordinate modifications to the existing water treatment footprint.
Project governance was structured around the engineering contractor led delivery, with operational coverage centered on the central water treatment facility and its associated water and wastewater engineering functions. The digital model enabled the retrofit that reduced wastewater discharge by about 9.85 million cubic meters annually and lowered energy consumption for the China based water and wastewater project.
