ORTEC Legacy ORTEC Routing Suite Transportation Management SCM n/a 2011 2011
In 2011, Tesco Hungary implemented ORTEC Routing Suite within a broader effort to standardize delivery planning across multiple countries, using Transportation Management software to centralize route optimization and dispatch planning. The ORTEC Routing Suite was selected from a field of 13 vendors based on Tesco’s operational experience and ORTEC’s proven results in comparable optimization pilots. The deployment centered on ORTEC Routing and Dispatch functionality to model and create daily delivery routes from warehouses to stores, incorporating route optimization, scheduling and load planning. Configuration work focused on rules for store time windows, vehicle capacity constraints and daily route generation, enabling automated route production and dispatch sequencing as part of Tesco’s logistics planning workflows. Integrations included a direct data exchange with Tesco’s warehouse management system running on Oracle, and with a third party track and trace system, Microlise, to improve data transfer and positional accuracy. The initial pilot in Slovakia preceded rollouts to Tesco Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Thailand and Malaysia, establishing an integration pattern and operational architecture that connected central warehouse order feeds to ORTEC and to the tracking layer for live visibility. Operational governance placed Tesco logistics teams in control of route modelling and daily execution, with ORTEC embedded into regional logistics operations across Central Europe and South-East Asia. Cooperation between Tesco and ORTEC increased year by year, and ORTEC Routing Suite became an essential component of Tesco’s Transportation Management and store replenishment workflows.
