Nuix Discover was used for document review and production workflows while Nuix Workstation handled data collection and processing, creating a two tier operational architecture for eDiscovery processing and review. The implementation encompassed functional capabilities including data ingestion, forensic and custodial collection support, processing and indexing, and review set management for production, with Nuix Discover serving as the review and production engine across those stages.
Parallel to eDiscovery system support, the agency built end to end business intelligence solutions using R, Shiny, SQL and Power BI to serve stakeholders across various data domains, integrating review outputs into analytical pipelines where analysts wrote and executed ad hoc SQL queries and automated repetitive tasks in python. BI duties explicitly included evaluation of new technologies, and the BI and discovery toolchains were operated together to provide analytics, reporting and review visibility for legal and records management functions.
Governance and operationalization included documenting processes, mentoring and training other analysts, and ongoing system administration and support for the Nuix Workstation and Nuix Discover environments. Process documentation and analyst training were used to institutionalize review workflows and sustain operations across the agency for litigation and records review activities.
