In 2017 Thistle Hotel & Resort Malaysia implemented Epicor iScala as its core ERP Financial system for finance and food and beverage accounting at its Johor Bahru property and associated outlets. The deployment consolidated general ledger and accounts payable workflows into Epicor iScala to support month end and year end close activities across the hotel finance organization.
Epicor iScala was configured to handle core financial modules including journal entry processing, amortization, depreciation, accruals, account code and sub-account maintenance, and inventory valuation for food and beverage. The system was used to produce weekly F&B cost reports, daily and monthly revenue reports, and to calculate per plate menu costs, embedding costing and reconciliation routines into the ERP Financial ledger processes.
Operational integrations and data reconciliation responsibilities were explicitly tied to property systems, with Epicor iScala reconciled against Opera trial balances and Micros revenue reports and used to verify Night Auditor figures and daily revenue reporting. The application interfaced into hotel operational processes through coordination with Accounts Payable, the Controller, the storekeeper, Food and Beverage management, and the Executive Chef to validate receiving, invoice unit costs, inventory issuance, and stock taking.
Governance and process controls were formalized around month end stock taking, food and beverage reconciliation, random spot checks of receiving and par inventories, verification of invoice mathematics and stamping, and periodic analysis of the meat tag system to validate physical controls.
