CensorNet Legacy CensorNet EMS Secure Email Gateways (SEGs) CyberSecurity n/a 2016 2016
In 2016 Thumbs Up (Bury) Ltd. engaged CensorNet EMS to secure corporate email after the Zeus Trojan infected company machines and caused email downtime while the firm was transitioning email from BTpop to Microsoft Exchange. The deployment used CensorNet EMS as a cloud delivered Secure Email Gateways (SEGs) service to provide company wide email protection for the 250 employee United Kingdom manufacturing operation. CensorNet EMS was configured to deliver core Secure Email Gateways (SEGs) capabilities, including inbound and outbound email filtering, anti malware scanning, anti phishing controls, attachment inspection, quarantine and policy based filtering and enforcement. These functional modules were applied to intercept malicious messages before delivery to user mailboxes and to enforce corporate messaging policies. Operational integration routed corporate email through the CensorNet cloud service and integrated with the Microsoft Exchange deployment so that filtering occurred prior to mail delivery. The scope covered enterprise email for corporate users and shifted perimeter email security to a cloud based service, reducing on site dependency for malware scanning and providing an external control point for continuity. Governance was centralized under IT with policy administration and incident workflows managed through the CensorNet EMS console, enabling quarantine, message investigation and coordinated incident handling for infected messages. The deployment aligned communications and IT operations to manage email threats and restore continuity following the Zeus related disruptions. According to the customer account, signing up to CensorNet’s cloud based Email Security stopped the recurring email borne virus disruptions that had continued after the move to Microsoft Exchange. The case demonstrates how a mid market manufacturing firm used CensorNet EMS as a Secure Email Gateways (SEGs) solution to address email borne malware and stabilize email operations.
