In 2016, TIP Trailer Services implemented Planon Universe as its central Facility Management application to centralize contract management and automate IFRS 16 lease accounting across the organization. The project responded to the companys dual role as both lessee and lessor and was driven by the full retrospective transition approach required for IFRS 16, which prompted a program of assessment and system selection to secure consistent financial reporting. TIP deployed Planon Universe as a cloud native contract management and lease accounting platform, configuring automated IFRS 16 lease accounting calculations, journal generation and embedded analytics. The implementation emphasized user accessibility through a user friendly interface and the vendor maturity of IFRS 16 functionality, enabling standardized lease data capture, valuation workflows and accounting automation consistent with Facility Management practice. Operationally the rollout centralized accounting controls while preserving local engagement, reflecting the need to align local colleagues who did not always share the same financial language. The deployment focused on linking contract records to accounting entries and analytics, supporting both lessee and lessor processes and providing a single source of lease contractual truth for finance and operational teams. Governance changes included centralizing the accounting process for data integrity and introducing analytics to harmonize local reporting, which helped drive adoption among geographically distributed teams. TIP used Planon Universe to create standardized workflows for contract onboarding, accounting calculation review and journal posting, aligning operational lease management with corporate finance controls. The program delivered on-time and in-budget IFRS 16 lease accounting compliance with Planon Universe, establishing a centralized Facility Management application for lease and contract governance and ongoing lease accounting automation.
