In 2017, Townends implemented Infor SunSystems as its ERP Financial application to consolidate and modernize finance operations across the firm. The deployment used Infor SunSystems v5.4 and focused on the Finance Team in the United Kingdom, positioning Infor SunSystems as the core ledger and reporting platform for corporate allocations and period close workflows.
The implementation leaned on built in functionality in SunSystems v5.4, notably the transfer desk capability which was configured to handle corporate allocations and intercompany charging. Standard SunSystems financial modules were applied to support general ledger control and management reporting, with configuration work targeted at automating allocation routines and accelerating the month end close sequence.
The project was delivered with Sapphire Systems as the implementation partner, which supported configuration, rollout, and user enablement for finance users. As a result of bringing SunSystems 5.4 into production the Finance Team at Townends moved the end of month close forward by a whole day and is able to distribute management reporting in a more timely manner, reflecting both process and system level changes to close orchestration and reporting cadence.
