United Petroleum implemented Phocas Analytics in 2013 to centralize reporting across its Australia-wide fuel retail, wholesale, convenience store and ethanol manufacturing operations. Phocas Analytics was positioned as the primary Analytics and BI platform to serve finance, retail operations and supply chain stakeholders within the business.
The deployment emphasized standard Analytics and BI capabilities including interactive dashboards, dimensional analysis, ad hoc querying, and scheduled reporting tailored to fuel retail metrics such as sales, volumes, margins and inventory levels. Configuration work focused on adapting Phocas Analytics models to point of sale transaction structures and operational hierarchies common to multi-site retail networks, with ETL processes established to normalize feeds for reporting and analysis.
Integrations were configured to ingest transactional and operational data from United Petroleum’s existing application landscape, notably SQL Server 2013 hosted repositories and point of sale systems and retail applications listed in the environment such as PC-EFTPOS, Metcash POS, SwiftPOS, Radiant Breeze, Profit Track, HiFi ERP, Foresight Fuel Management and QuickFuel Server. The analytics layer was accessed through the company’s virtualization and endpoint stack including VMware and Citrix XenApp, with data consolidation occurring in centralized SQL Server 2013 data stores.
Governance and rollout were managed internally with a Senior Systems Analyst based in Abbotsford VIC overseeing configuration, data mapping, user provisioning and role-based access controls from January 2013 onward. Operational adoption targeted finance and retail operations teams, with documented source mappings, scheduled refresh windows and controlled access implemented to support routine operational reporting and decision support.
