In 2020, VNYL implemented Stripe Payments for Payment Processing on its website. The deployment establishes Stripe Payments as the primary payment processing layer for VNYL's retail ecommerce checkout, enabling online card acceptance and transaction capture for orders placed via the storefront.
The implementation centers on a web integration that handles client-side tokenization and server-side charge processing, with webhook-driven event handling used to signal successful captures into order management and finance workflows. Operational scope covers ecommerce checkout, payments reconciliation, and finance functions within VNYL's U.S. retail operations, and governance assigns ongoing payment configuration, reconciliation, and dispute handling to the ecommerce and finance teams while relying on Stripe Payments to reduce the company's direct PCI scope through hosted processing and tokenization capabilities.

| Shippo | Legacy | Shippo | Shipping Management | eCommerce | n/a | 2019 | 2020 |
In 2019, VNYL implemented Shippo as its Shipping Management solution to centralize label generation and real time tracking within the VNYL application. VNYL is a retail subscription company that sends physical records to members, and the Shippo implementation targeted order fulfillment and customer notification workflows.
Shippo's shipping API was integrated directly into the VNYL app to automate shipping label generation and to provision a menu of delivery options at checkout. The implementation used Shippo capabilities to programmatically select the most cost effective shipping option per order, enabling margin optimization for VNYL's free shipping model. Automation removed manual label creation tasks and supported standard shipping workflows such as rate shopping, label printing, and shipment creation.
Shippo webhooks were used to push carrier events into VNYL's application, allowing the app to surface precise status updates and ETAs to members without redirecting them to carrier pages. The integration also supported event driven triggers, for example when a package is delivered the Shippo webhook initiates an automated upload of music to a customer Spotify playlist. Shippo's 99.9% uptime was cited as operational resilience that reduces the risk of interruptions when specific carrier APIs experience outages.
Operationally, the deployment shifted internal shipping processes from manual to API driven workflows, standardizing notification rules and shipment orchestration across the small 15 person firm. Business functions impacted included fulfillment operations, customer service, and product experience teams who now receive and act on unified shipment data within the application. Implementation emphasized an API first integration pattern rather than a web interface centric approach.
As a result, VNYL scaled shipping logistics more quickly with a fast, cost effective shipping pipeline and added application features such as in app real time delivery notifications driven by Shippo events. VNYL and its members gained direct access to tracking information and the company reduced internal processing overhead for shipping label creation. Shippo enabled VNYL to focus engineering effort on the core music experience rather than shipping orchestration.
