In 2022, Whirlpool (China) Co. implemented Ge Vernova Proficy Smart Factory, a Manufacturing Execution System, at its dishwasher plant in Hefei. The deployment included Cloud MES, Proficy Plant Applications, Proficy Historian and iFIX to enable tracking, genealogy, material management and electronic SOPs across more than 300 machines.
Proficy Plant Applications was configured to provide work order execution, material tracking and genealogy, while Proficy Historian captured time series and iFIX provided HMI and supervisory control for shop floor instrumentation. The implementation delivered a digital factory on a four month timeline and established core MES functional modules aligned to production, quality and material control workflows.
The project used a hybrid cloud MES architecture with on site Proficy Plant Applications and iFIX components integrated with cloud based MES services and historian aggregation to provide enterprise visibility. GE Vernova Professional Services led the China site deployment and supplied the implementation model for standardized configuration and data aggregation.
Operational scope covered shop floor operations at the Hefei dishwasher plant and impacted production planning, quality assurance and material management functions. The rollout produced improved on time delivery and a repeatable model for expansion to other Whirlpool plants, while establishing governance around electronic SOPs and enterprise level visibility.
