In 2014 Whirlpool EMEA implemented Serrala FinanceSuite to centralize accounts payable and core finance operations across its EMEA Shared Services Center. With a corporate turnover of $6 billion and an SSC team of roughly 300 people, the initiative aimed to unify Purchase to Pay, Order to Cash and Record to Report processes across Dublin and Delhi sites and the wider EMEA footprint.
Serrala FinanceSuite provided AP Automation capabilities for invoice capture, approval workflows, payment orchestration and supplier portal connectivity. The implementation automated the complete Purchase to Pay cycle and integrated category-aligned tools such as robotic process automation, a Cockpit OC for monitoring, workflow engines, bulk payments processing and a vendor portal implemented as the ISR Tool.
The deployment was architected as an SAP HANA-attached stack, Serrala FinanceSuite interfacing directly with SAP HANA for master data and posting, and with peripheral systems for transaction reconciliation. Integrations included electronic invoicing EDI for Order to Cash, a Hanse Orga tool for automatic bank payment reconciliation, the Happy Fox ticketing tool for supplier complaints and downstream orchestration of payments.
Operational scope covered centralized SSC processing for all EMEA entities, with program governance led from the Whirlpool Financial Services Center and close coordination between Dublin and Delhi teams from August to December 2014. A Service Management department was created to monitor KPIs across Purchase to Pay, Order to Cash and Record to Report, and rollout activities included entity consolidation and a January 2015 update of SAP HANA for all EMEA entities.
As part of post-implementation activities Whirlpool integrated Indesit into the shared services operating model and merged multiple legal entities across EMEA. Whirlpool collaborated with KPMG to evaluate and approve a new SSC location in October 2016, an initiative the company reported produced $9M in savings, while program governance emphasized internal collaboration to limit reductions in local headcount.
