Infor Legacy Infor SunSystems ERP Financial ERP n/a 2013 2013
In 2013, World Agroforestry Centre deployed Infor SunSystems as its core ERP Financial application. The implementation supported the institution's finance function across its Kenya operations and was managed within an organization of roughly 630 employees. The author served as the Infor SunSystems ERP administrator and DBA, responsible for ongoing support, upgrades, and development of complementary web applications. Custom applications developed to extend Infor SunSystems included a Payment Voucher System, Financial Web Reports, a Grants Management System, and a Travel Management System. These web applications provided workflow automation, user-facing interfaces, and reporting capabilities that augmented Infor SunSystems financial processes for payment processing, general ledger reporting, grants accounting, and travel expense workflows. Infor SunSystems was configured to handle core financial ledgers while the custom modules enforced process workflows and delivered operational reports. The deployment architecture placed financial data on MySQL, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server instances that housed transactional and reporting data. As DBA and administrator the role covered schema management, backup and recovery, and maintaining data integrity between Infor SunSystems and the custom web applications. Integration work focused on database-level interfaces and transactional posting to ensure consistent financial records across the ERP Financial system and the supporting applications. Operational governance combined ERP administration with application lifecycle management, with defined responsibilities for support, patching, and release of the web applications. The primary business functions supported included finance, accounts payable, grants administration, and travel management, all orchestrated through Infor SunSystems and the integrated web application suite.
