Scope and Challenges
San Bernardino Community College District uses Oracle Cloud Apps to save money, boost student services. Also To streamline overall operations and campus experiences, California community college, San Bernardino Community College District (SBCCD) is using Oracle Cloud Applications.
SBCCD wanted to ensure the college district was well positioned to serve the needs of its entire campus community with the overall goal of declaring fiscal independence from the county. The college district recognized a modern financial platform was critical to that mission. Following a competitive RFP process, SBCCD became the first California community college to select Oracle ERP Cloud to provide improved reporting capabilities across all college functions and deliver the necessary insights to make informed decisions.
Faced with the challenge of tightening public funding coupled with an influx of students, California community college administrators are under increased pressure to stretch available resources to serve the needs of their constituents. According to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, funding for public two- and four-year colleges is nearly $10 billion below what it was just prior to the recession.
Outcome and Implications
The depth and breadth of Oracle cloud solutions are helping the colleges transform and standardize business systems to drive sustainable cost reductions, provide greater insights through real-time analytics and improve overall services for students, faculty, staff, and vendors.
Cloud-based technologies have enabled organizations across a variety of industries to address similar resource challenges while continuing to deliver innovative new services and build the foundation for a modern infrastructure to support evolving needs.
On April 5, 2016, San Bernardino Community College District (SBCCD) announced that will be upgrading its human resources and payroll systems by implementing ADP Vantage HCM, making them the first college in the public higher education sector to do so.
