In 2017, XPO Logistics Europe implemented Siemens XCargo as part of its Transportation Management environment. Later operational work in 2022 at the Lyon site documented direct integration activity, where XCargo was used in conjunction with a newly introduced tender tool to manage calls for tenders and to align commercial and transport workflows.
The implementation emphasized data management and performance monitoring capabilities within Siemens XCargo, including extraction and collection of source data, ETL pipeline creation and automation, cleansing and transformation, and the development of statistical indicators and KPIs. Business intelligence and reporting were delivered through Microsoft Power BI with Data Analysis Expressions used for calculated measures, enabling dashboarding and commercial and transport performance analysis.
Integrations observed during the tender tool program included process orchestration and workflow modeling with BizAgi and persistent data staging and querying in Microsoft SQL Server, with Siemens XCargo serving as the Transportation Management application hub. Governance activities focused on standardized ETL processes, automated reporting workflows, and operationalizing KPI definitions across commercial and transport functions at the Lyon site, aligning tender management, reporting, and execution workflows through the Siemens XCargo implementation.
