In 2020, YMCA of Memphis & the Mid South implemented SGA Fund Accounting, deploying SGA Fund Accounting as their Non Profit ERP to centralize fund-based financial controls and reporting. The deployment targeted the accounting and finance function, aligning system configuration with the Y’s mission-driven program structure across Memphis and the Mid-South.
SGA Fund Accounting was configured to support core fund accounting and general ledger workflows, along with accounts payable and accounts receivable ledgers, program billing and management reporting. Configuration emphasized balance sheet reconciliation processes and the preparation and review of weekly and monthly management reports as assigned by the Accounting Manager or CFO, and provided audit support processes for the annual financial audit.
The implementation integrated with operational systems explicitly used by the organization, including Ceridian Dayforce as the payroll system and Smartcare as the childcare program platform. Payroll processing and payroll-related research are coordinated between Ceridian Dayforce and the accounting team, while childcare revenue, discounts, receivables and cash are reconciled and recorded from Smartcare into the SGA general ledger, supporting third party and governmental billing workflows for YMCA programs.
Governance and operational ownership were structured within the accounting team, with the Accounting Manager and CFO assigning reconciliations, key management reports and audit tasks. Day-to-day execution rests with staff accounting roles that perform reconciliations, ad hoc research and reporting, and serve as in-house experts on Ceridian Dayforce and Smartcare interfaces to SGA Fund Accounting.
