In 2018, Yokogawa Electric implemented C3 AI Reliability as an Asset Performance Management solution. The deployment was positioned as an enterprise AI capability to extend Yokogawa's software portfolio and to be used by the company and its wholly owned subsidiary KBC for industrial AI use cases.
C3 AI Reliability was configured to provide core Asset Performance Management capabilities including predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, equipment health modeling, and reliability analytics. The implementation emphasized model-driven remaining useful life estimation and analytics pipelines that tie sensor and simulation data into condition-based monitoring workflows.
The solution was integrated with Yokogawa’s measurement, control, and simulation capabilities and systematized through operational technology and digital services, enabling close coupling between engineering simulation and operational analytics. Operational coverage targeted asset intensive functions such as operations, maintenance, and engineering across verticals including power generation, renewables, mining and metals, chemicals, and oil and gas.
Governance was established under a multi-year agreement with C3 AI to standardize AI models and operationalize workflows, with initial work focused on driving more accurate simulations for customers. Yokogawa expected the C3 AI Reliability deployment to play a critical role in enabling optimized productivity, higher levels of industrial autonomy, and the creation of new business opportunities, and the engagement supported C3 AI establishing a direct presence in Japan through collaboration with Yokogawa.
