In 2016 Zions Bank deployed UKG Benefits Administration (ex Kronos Benefits Administration) as its Benefits Administration solution to centralize employee benefits configuration and HR benefit workflows across its banking operations. The implementation work referenced configuration efforts in Salt Lake City and aligned with the broader Zions Bancorporation footprint across 11 western and southwestern states, targeting HR, payroll, and time and labor functions for bank branches and corporate HR teams.
The implementation included configuration of core benefits administration capabilities within UKG Benefits Administration, alongside adjacent Kronos modules used during deployment such as Workforce Payroll, Human Resources, Workforce Central, accruals, leave management, pay codes, wage profiles, adjustment rules, and scheduler logic. Functional tasks documented in the engagement encompassed creation and maintenance of pay rules and pay codes, accrual setup, leave and activities distribution, record management, and assignment of user roles and security requested by HR and business analysts.
Integrations and data exchange were executed through designed interfaces, notably an Address Interface and a Termination Interface that transmitted active address and terminated employee data from Oracle HRMS into PeopleSoft systems, supporting downstream HR and payroll processes. The technical scope included SQL and PL-SQL based data work, server performance monitoring, applying software bundles and tax updates, and management of time clock devices and device groups to ensure accurate time capture feeding benefits-eligible payroll runs.
Governance and delivery combined hybrid Agile and waterfall approaches, with the project team producing Agile user stories, acceptance criteria, prioritized product backlogs, and formalized test cycles including unit, integration, and UAT testing. Documentation deliverables covered HR policy updates, system user instructions, and workflow diagrams to align benefits administration processes with HR and payroll operations.
