Astellas Pharma Europe Life Sciences 569 $1.8B United Kingdom SAP SAP S/4 HANA SCM Supply Chain Management 2018 n/a In 2018, Astellas Pharma Europe implemented SAP S/4 HANA SCM to consolidate its Supply Chain Management capabilities across materials planning and logistics. The implementation targeted the Supply Chain and Materials Management area and established SAP S/4 HANA SCM as the core system supporting procurement, materials management, inventory control, and order fulfillment processes for the organization. The SAP S/4 HANA SCM deployment included configuration of materials management and planning functionalities, master data stabilization, test script development, and regression testing to validate process flows. Tata Consultancy Services provided an implementation architect who collaborated with development resources and business stakeholders to define the global template, approve artefacts, and execute cutover and hypercare activities. Integrations were explicitly implemented between SAP S/4 HANA SCM and external applications including SAP Integrated Business Planning IBP, SAP Global Trade Services GTS, and SAP Ariba, along with connections to other on premise applications. The program supported an upgrade cadence, including analysis and testing activities for the SAP S/4 HANA 1709 to 2020 technical upgrade, and the global template was prepared for roll out to additional geographical regions and business functions. Governance centered on formal review and approval of design artefacts, structured test execution, cutover planning, and a transition to business as usual operations with targeted user training. The project established supply chain workflows and operational ownership models that placed SAP S/4 HANA SCM at the center of Astellas Pharma Europe supply chain governance and business process orchestration.
