The initial implementation established a canonical operational data store and reporting layer to support the distributor business and an ecommerce website, with work centered on the company site in Mississauga, Ontario.
As part of the Epicor Prophet 21 deployment, a database developer created a new database schema and ETL pipelines, authoring numerous complex queries, views, clustered and non clustered indexes, and parameterized stored procedures that used multi table joins, self joins and correlated sub queries. SQL Server Integration Services packages integrated and normalized data from CSV and Excel files and other SQL Server sources, and SQL Server Reporting Services delivered tabular, matrix, chart and drill down parameterized reports to downstream consumers.
Operational governance emphasized ongoing query performance monitoring and exception handling for debugging, with SQL Profiler used to diagnose hotspots, and technical guidance provided to team members to resolve database issues. The implementation prioritized standardizing stored procedures and report artifacts to centralize reporting workflows and to extract and load data from the Epicor Prophet 21 ERP system into the new ecommerce and analytics database.
