| SAP | Legacy | SAP APO | Demand Forecasting and Planning, Advanced Planning and Scheduling | SCM | n/a | 2017 | 2017 | In 2017 ABB Singapore implemented SAP APO for Demand Forecasting and Planning,Advanced Planning and Scheduling to centralize demand and scheduling workflows for the Smart Buildings division at the Singapore site. The deployment was positioned to support planning, purchasing, fulfillment and warehouse operations within ABB Singapore, aligning system controls with company purchasing policies and release strategies. The implementation configured SAP APO modules for demand planning, supply network planning and detailed production scheduling, integrating category-aligned functionality for statistical forecasting, consensus demand planning, order-based supply planning and constrained scheduling. SAP APO was used to drive MRP-informed purchase requisition and purchase order signals, and to surface planning exceptions and inventory aging analyses for planners and fulfillment teams. Integrations included a direct SAP ECC interface for transactional master data and MRP orchestration, and supplier-facing interfaces for EDI message monitoring and error resolution as described in operational requirements. The solution supported end-to-end flows from PO release through supplier acknowledgements, inbound shipment tracking, warehouse goods receipt and non-conformance report handling, enabling supplier performance reporting on on time delivery and lead time metrics. Governance was formalized through role-based release strategies and tables of authority, with planning and fulfilment reporting into the Planning and Fulfilment Manager. Operational controls included daily exception reports, backlog expediting processes and periodic supplier performance reviews, with SAP APO serving as the central system for demand forecasting and scheduling across purchasing, planning and fulfillment functions. |
