In 2016, AA Ireland implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as the core ERP Financial platform to consolidate corporate finance capabilities and extend transactional coverage into supply chain and payroll. The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 deployment was positioned as part of a finance transformation program for AA Ireland, covering finance, SCM, HR and payroll business functions for the 550-employee insurance operation.
The implementation delivered core functional modules for finance and related operational processes, with explicit workstreams for data migration including extraction, transformation, loading and reconciliation. Localisations and interfaces were developed to support Irish statutory and operational requirements, and staff training and local testing were conducted to validate financial close, budgeting and forecasting workflows.
The program integrated SAP ERP ECC 6.0 with IBM Cognos TM1 for monthly reporting, budgeting and forecasting, and implemented and rolled out a Risk Management system and associated processes to support governance. Interfaces to other on-premise and local systems were implemented as part of the project, with testing and reconciliation efforts emphasized during cutover.
Project governance included stakeholder management, local change management and communications led by the finance transformation and SAP project management function, and data reconciliation controls during go-live. All functionality was implemented within the original agreed timelines, and the deployment established SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as the enterprise ERP Financial backbone for AA Ireland.
