In 2020, Acuity deployed IBM Watson Explorer AI as part of an enterprise search initiative. The Cognitive Computing implementation created a centralized content discovery capability for the professional services firm and anchored a program of enterprise search projects using IBM Watson technology, Elasticsearch and the ELK Stack.
The implementation configured IBM Watson Explorer AI to crawl and index data from databases, file systems, content management systems and the web. Development included data converters authored in XML, XSLT and Python to transform documents into indexable formats, and front end search and discovery functionality built with Ruby on Rails, HTML, CSS and JavaScript including node.js and React.
Search and observability architecture combined IBM Watson Explorer AI and Elasticsearch with an ELK Stack for logging and pipeline monitoring. Integrations explicitly covered source connectors to structured databases, unstructured file repositories and CMS endpoints, with ingestion pipelines that normalized content prior to indexing.
Governance and rollout were driven by architecture and development leadership acting as subject matter experts in search technologies, with proof of concept applications presented to business users to validate relevance and encourage adoption. Development and architecture work was executed remotely, focusing on index configuration, relevancy tuning and front end integration rather than on named implementation partners.
