| SAP | Legacy | SAP S/4HANA Cloud | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2019 | 2020 |
In 2019 AEG implemented SAP S/4HANA Cloud as its ERP Financial platform. The deployment positioned SAP S/4HANA Cloud as the central transactional backbone for AEG, aligning the Germany-based retail company with SAP S/4HANA Cloud capabilities for finance and core retail operations.
The implementation concentrated on SAP S/4HANA Cloud functional capabilities, explicitly leveraging core finance functionality alongside procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, plan-to-production and offer-to-project process support. Configuration emphasized automation of transactional flows and embedded intelligent services that detect patterns, predict outcomes and suggest actions, enabling reduced manual intervention in routine financial and operational tasks.
Architecturally the rollout used SAP S/4HANA Cloud as a cloud-native ERP Financial system to centralize the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and operational planning, providing real-time transactional processing and consistent master data across finance and operations. The scope covered retail business functions including finance, procurement, sales order management and production planning within AEGs retail organization in Germany.
Governance and process changes focused on standardizing financial controls and workflows to support automated procure-to-pay and order-to-cash cycles, with process owners re-aligned to manage exceptions and higher-value analytical activities. The implementation leveraged SAP S/4HANA Cloud capabilities to shift routine transactional work toward automated execution and to surface predictive insights for business decision making.

| Hyland | Legacy | Hyland Perceptive Process (ex BPMone) | Business Process Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2009 | 2009 |
In 2009 AEG deployed Hyland Perceptive Process (ex BPMone) to automate accounts payable in the United States. The implementation leveraged Business Process Management capabilities to standardize invoice intake, workflow routing and case handling across AP operations.
Hyland Perceptive Process was configured to deliver process and workflow automation, including invoice capture, automated routing, exception handling and case management built on the Perceptive suite. Configuration work focused on approval workflows, automated work queues and persistent audit trail generation as part of accounts payable processing.
The solution was tightly integrated with Oracle JD Edwards in the United States to synchronize AP transactions and support ERP posting of invoices, enabling end to end invoice flow between Perceptive Process and JD Edwards. Rollout targeted accounts payable operations and finance teams, centralizing document handling and electronic case records for supplier invoices.
AEG reported approximately 60% faster invoice processing and improved auditability following deployment of Hyland Perceptive Process. The implementation illustrates a Business Process Management led approach to streamlining finance operations and strengthening invoice governance.
