In 2021, Aerofarms implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. The Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central deployment was an ERP Financial implementation that replaced Microsoft Dynamics AX and was overseen by a cross functional steering committee including Business Transformation, IT, Operations and Procurement leadership.
The implementation focused on financial management and procure to pay capabilities, with configuration of accounts payable, purchase order workflows, procurement controls and project accounting to support capital projects for facility launches. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central was used to standardize ordering and contracting templates while enabling automated PO routing and approval workflows consistent with ERP Financial functional patterns.
Operational coverage spanned procurement and finance functions supporting management of approximately 400 vendors across Americas, EMEA and APAC and ten facilities, and it was positioned to support procurement for two new production and R and D facilities. The deployment interfaced with redesigned ordering and contracting processes developed in partnership with Accounting and Legal, and supported coordination with Engineering and Corporate Development on site selection and capital projects workplans.
Governance and rollout were organized through an executive level steering committee, with the Vice President of Procurement serving on the committee and reporting to the COO. Procurement transformation activities ran in parallel with the ERP Financial rollout and included new policies and processes that achieved 95% PO quality and under 2 days PO cycle time, documented savings and a roadmap for additional savings, and scaling of the procurement team to support global operations.
