In 2011, Affiliated Steam selected Epicor Prophet 21 as its Distribution ERP to replace a limited accounting based software approach and begin a staged ERP implementation. The decision announced in September 2011 framed Epicor Prophet 21 as the companywide business management platform for the family owned distributor that serves Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin and several counties in Kentucky and Michigan, with a projected go live in spring 2012 for thirty Prophet 21 users across four locations.
Epicor Prophet 21 was implemented on a Microsoft Windows based platform with a SQL Server database, delivering core Distribution ERP functionality for warehouse, order and inventory management, purchasing automation, financial management, and reporting and analysis. The deployment plan explicitly included Wireless Warehouse Management Solution, B2B Seller, Strategic Pricing and the built in Customer Relationship Management functionality, and it referenced use of Epicor’s Learning Management System for web based training to support adoption.
Operational coverage targeted sales and distribution functions, with specific emphasis on field sales enablement and remote sales staff capabilities. The implementation provided salespeople direct access to inventory levels, orders and quotes and enabled a one click conversion from quote to order, reflecting a shift toward real time sales workflows and mobile enabled order processing within the Distribution ERP environment.
