In 2017 Agathon implemented SAP Business Suite as its ERP Financial solution across its Switzerland-based manufacturing operations and international branch footprint. The SAP Business Suite deployment targeted core financial management and ERP processes, establishing a foundation for consolidated accounting, general ledger processing, payable workflows, and operational reporting.
GIA Informatik AG completed preparatory work for a Unicode conversion in December 2017 to ensure global character support, and the project moved the SAP Business Suite database to the in-memory SAP HANA platform in January 2018. GIA framed the SAP HANA migration as a future-oriented platform that forms the basis for a later switch to SAP S/4HANA, reflecting a phased database and platform strategy.
The implementation included an infrastructure transition to a private cloud operated via partner services, a decision driven by the cost profile of modernizing Agathon owned data centers. The operating system environment changed from Windows to a Linux enterprise server, and technical adjustments were made to interfaces of internal and external programs to maintain system integrity across the new database and OS stack.
Aveniq served as the system integrator for the program while GIA executed the Unicode preparatory work and provided ongoing IT infrastructure capabilities. Operational governance changes included scheduled maintenance windows timed to avoid downtime impact on the US branch, reflecting explicit global availability planning tied to Agathon international activities.
