In 2015, Aimia deployed Mercer Darwin Benefits (formerly Thomsons Online Benefits) as its Benefits Administration platform. The deployment was managed by the Talent and Culture Operations team and aligned to HR processes for onboarding, offboarding and benefits lifecycle management.
Mercer Darwin Benefits was configured to handle benefits enrollment, administration of starters, leavers and changes, benefits reporting and new starter questionnaire distribution, with administrative workflows supporting payroll and probation coordination. The Benefits Administration deployment was exercised in parallel with a Workday rollout for employee master data, with HR administrators testing and validating processes and data to ensure alignment between the benefits platform and the employee database.
Operational coverage centered on the Talent and Culture and HR administration functions, including day to day employee queries, preparation of audit documents, and producing starters, leavers and changes reports. Implementation governance included training of new team members, scripted testing activities, maintenance of the employee database and iterative process improvements to onboarding, flexible working and name change procedures, and continued operational collaboration with the benefits provider and with First Advantage for pre-employment screening.

In 2014, Aimia deployed MicroStrategy ONE Analytics as a central analytics layer within its Analytics and BI estate, driving consolidated reporting and data access for accumulation and campaign analysis. The implementation focused on integrating partner data feeds into the existing BI data warehouse and enabling user reporting that required inclusion of all pertinent MPCs to support accumulation activity analysis.
The project delivered a new installation of IBM Metadata Workbench and implemented IBM Business Glossary to provide metadata governance and consistent business definitions for MicroStrategy ONE Analytics reporting. Metadata imports included UNICA campaign metadata, Technical DataStage artifacts, Power Designer models, and MicroStrategy metadata, creating a governed metadata fabric that supported ETL and reporting workflows.
Aimia also implemented an extraction and masking solution for databases and flat files to meet security audit requirements, scrambling all PII in non production environments. IBM Optim was used to mask DB2 and MySQL databases, and the work encompassed planning and executing extraction, masking, and refresh processes to ensure sanitized test and development data for analytics and testing use.
Infrastructure and operations work was managed in parallel, including installation and configuration of additional Nexus switches across multiple locations for redundancy and high availability, consolidation of wireless networks, decommissioning of redundant resources, validation of implemented network solutions, implementation of throttled guest networks and WIFI self provisioning, and regional proxy and employee VPN consolidation. Project governance emphasized an aggressive schedule with focused organization, planning, and overall project management to coordinate metadata, masking, analytics platform configuration, and network infrastructure activities.
