In 2018, AltaLink implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as its core ERP Financial system. The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 deployment established the foundation for financial and human resource transaction processing across the organization and anchored ERP Financial operations for the utilities business.
The implementation encompassed SAP modules FICO, PA, MRS, PM, and MM, with configuration and ABAP development focused on Multi Resource Scheduling MRS, financial accounting and controlling in FICO, plant maintenance processes in PM, and materials management in MM. Development and extension work used ABAP and object oriented programming, incorporating user exits and BADIs to adapt standard functionality, SNOTE for OSS note application, and ALV and PROXY for reporting and integration payload handling. Daily technical support and enhancement activity was part of the operational model to sustain module configurations and transports.
Integrations implemented included multiple interfaces between external applications and the SAP SOOM custom application for System Operations Outage Management, and a developed and tested interface that synchronized an external employee qualification application with SAP PA employee profile and qualification records. Operational execution included on site technical consulting in Calgary Alberta, with a senior ABAP consultant engaged in part time support and enhancement work during May 2019 to July 2019 to maintain interfaces and module stability.
Governance emphasized ongoing technical support workflows and enhancement delivery, using ABAP based extensions and OSS note remediation to manage exceptions and feature gaps. Change management focused on controlled transport of ABAP developments and iterative enhancement cycles to align SAP ERP ECC 6.0 modules with AltaLink business processes in finance and workforce qualification management.
