In 2015 AmBank upgraded its Temenos T24 Core Banking platform from R07 to R18, executing an enterprise-level version upgrade of Temenos T24 across its retail and commercial banking operations in Malaysia. The engagement focused on moving the bank to the R18 release while preserving bank-specific configurations and core banking functionality such as accounts, transaction processing, and deposit workflows consistent with Core Banking expectations.
Cognizant participated as the systems integrator on the upgrade team, executing a structured technical program that reviewed and revised existing T24 code for R18 compatibility and coding standards. The team converted services, jobs, and screens as part of the release transition, performed test upgrades from R07 to R18, and conducted iterative unit testing cycles to surface and remediate defects.
Governance for the program emphasized compatibility assurance and traceable remediation, with documented findings from unit tests and test upgrades used to drive code changes and validate adherence to coding standards. The implementation narrative centers on configuration and code-level modernization within Temenos T24, controlled test-upgrade sequencing, and disciplined defect documentation to support the bankwide R18 deployment.
