In 2016, Amphenol implemented Infor XA as its Manufacturing ERP on an AS400 iSeries platform at its Kent, England site. The deployment supported MAPICS, the Infor XA ERP core runtime, and centered on day to day operations and system administration for a mid sized distribution business.
Operationally the implementation covered technical modules and capabilities including security administration, user provisioning and menu configuration, backup and restore processes, and scripted automation for routine maintenance. The engagement included hands on technical support and documentation of procedures for the AS400 iSeries environment, reflecting an emphasis on runbook creation and repeatable operational tasks.
The effort involved close liaison with third party vendors for system support and continuity, and cross training of network and PC staff to broaden AS400 operational ownership. The scope impacted IT operations and distribution operations by establishing administration, access control, and interface readiness consistent with a Manufacturing ERP operating on an iSeries host.
Governance activities focused on formalizing security and user workflows, documenting backup and restore routines, and enabling staff knowledge transfer through cross training and on the job technical support. Automation and documentation were primary tools used to reduce single person dependency and to embed Infor XA operations into the IT support model.
