In 2010, Anixter Belgium implemented Quadient IS-280 iMeter as a central Mailing System to formalize mailroom operations within its 200-employee distribution environment. The deployment was scoped to the Office Services function and targeted daily processing of incoming and outgoing FedEx, UPS, USPS and freight shipments, plus the processing of outgoing company invoices and routine copy and binding projects.
Configuration work centered on standard mailing system capabilities, including postage metering and imprinting, job batching for invoice runs, postage accounting and usage tracking, and configurable job routing for mixed mail runs. The Quadient IS-280 iMeter was configured to support user authentication for Office Services staff, produce traceable job reports, and manage postage pools and departmental cost accounting consistent with corporate invoice processing workflows.
Operationally the solution was used alongside existing mailroom equipment with staff operating Hassler and Neopost postal machines when required, and the mailing system was integrated into day-to-day carrier interactions for FedEx, UPS, USPS and freight shipments through label printing and operational workflows. The implementation covered the central mailroom and adjacent Office Services activities, including supply ordering, daily package distribution, and copy and binding tasks that feed into outbound mail runs.
Governance and process work accompanied the technical deployment, with written department procedural guidelines and training documentation maintained and updated to reflect the Quadient IS-280 iMeter workflows. Supervisory controls emphasized cross-training of Office Services staff, adherence to distribution and shipping procedures, and daily operational oversight to ensure consistent use of the Quadient IS-280 iMeter Mailing System across invoice processing and parcel handling activities.
